ACTIVITIES
WATER AND SANITATION
With own fund and financial support of NGO Forum GBUS is providing support for the people in the greater Chapainawabganj District Safe & Arsenic free water supply. Now GBUS is working in Moharajpur, Barogharia, Islampur, Debinagor & Alatuli.
VOCATIONAL TRAINING
GBUS is arranging vocational training courses for the community people. We believe that people are enriched with their basic education which they gathered over the years. They just need to have some basic tools and techniques through which they can really use those knowledge in a constructive manner.
DISASTER MANAGEMENT
Bangladesh is regularly attacked by natural disasters especially in Chapainawabganj district where flood, high temperuture & cold are one of the most frequent disaster come by returns almost every year. GBUS alwas take necessary step for the victims. We are providing training to our staff as well as community people to make them skilled for disaster Preparedness. We are distributing warm cloths and blankets in the winter to women and elderly people. We have also distributed foods and medicine to the flood affected people.
HEALTH & FAMILY PLANNING
We have arranged several workshops on mother and child care, reproductive health care, public health care and health care development services , nutrition, food security etc.
HIV/AIDS
HIV/AIDS is one of the key national issues has taken very seriously nationwide. GBUS have taken this matter into consideration in our project area. The main focus of these projects is to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS issues and reduce the risks and vulnerability of the targets group. We have arranged health fair, safe blood transmission campaign, staff training program.
WOMAN RIGHTS
Though woman constitutes nearly 50% of the population of Bangladesh their situation is adverse from every direction. The reality of the women in Bangladesh specially in the rural woman is vulnerable and equality in status, access to services and resources have not been established yet. Over 95% of female headed households considered to fall below the poverty line. Only around 20% women are literate. The life expectancy of women is 58.7 comparing 59.2 years for man. A cross country comparison found that the incidence of domestic violence is also very high. Rape, murder, acid throwing, trafficking is a common phonomenon in Bangladesh. Keeping all these in mind GBUS is committed to work for women in the Chapainawabganj district. The objective of this program is to make people aware about woman rights and how they should be accepted int he family as well as society. GBUS also provide legal supports to women who have been violated and whose rights have been manipulated by the male members inside and outside their families.
SAVINGS & CREDIT
GBUS motivate their members for the purpose of creating a habit of regular savings and also running credit programs so that they can use it in their own income generating activities.

Grameen Bohumukhi Unnayan Sangstha (GBUS)
Bangladesh is welll known as developing country in the South Asia region. Morethan 145 million people are living in this country. Though the highest foreign earnings source is the 'Ready Made Garments' but still 80% of the population is dependent on agriculture. Morethan 43% people are living under poverty line, of which 32% esist in extreme layer of poverty who have no alternative option to take minimum food 1750 K.C./per day. The literacy reate is not satisfactory specillay women are fare behind in the said matter. Grameen Bohumukhi Unnayan Sangstha (GBUS) is a local NGO formed with active initiatives of some devoted individuals in the year 2000. It was registered under Voluntary Social Welfare-Chapainawabganj. Its registration no. Nawab-211/2001.
